Recently finished this book and loved it. Details the life of a man who grew up and lived as a Yakuza -- Japan's most established crime syndicate -- in 20th century Japan. As an old man he recounts his stories to a doctor that is caring for him in fascinating detail. A great read.

Piero Antinori wanted to create an Italian version of white Burgundy, but he and his team couldn't quite capture his vision. Ready to give up on the project, they shut the door to the cellar where the wine was fermenting, allowing the temperature to rise slightly, to induce malolactic fermentation, and to introduce this wine's creamy mouth-feel. Intended for aging--the estate has bottles dating to '85--Cevaro is a blend of mostly Chardonnay kissed with fifteen-percent Grechetto. Cool until summer, just wet enough, and 2009 was perfect for the creation of a wine with the optimal balance of juicy tropical fruits, piquant acidity, nice minerality and just the perfect touch of oak. IWM is one of only a few US retailers to offer this wine that redefines value at $39. This '09 is drinking to the end of the decade, likely longer.
